Crawford White

Crawford White

Crawford White is a Northern Arapaho Elder and Ceremonial Leader. He is a decorated Vietnam Veteran with a Purple Heart and was discharged with honors. Crawford is a former member of the Northern Arapaho Council, he is a first generation Arapaho language speaker, and an adviser for the local chapter of The Native American Church. He makes his home on the Wind River Reservation. Crawford works diligently to keep the Arapaho language alive, and continues to preserve the Northern Arapaho way of life. Over the years, Crawford has also developed the skill of being a silversmith. He produces brilliant, detailed works of art in his sterling silver bracelets, pendants, and rings. He learned this skill from his brother, Nelson White, when he returned home from the service. Over an accumulative span of twenty two years Crawford has been practicing this form of art. He has developed his own unique style that starts from raw materials in his shop on the Wind River Reservation. Crawford’s family is his main inspiration behind his work, along with the joy that the process and the finished product brings him.

Pam Lock

Pam Lock

Pam Lock is a member of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes of Wyoming. She makes her home on the Wind River Reservation with her family. She is a retired basketball player and runner, but she still enjoys watching her kids play. In her spare time, Pam likes to be at home where she beads and sews. She enjoys creating and carrying on the teachings of her grandmother, Virginia Noseep. Pam has four children, Charlene O’Neal, Ruth O’Neal, Charlie O’Neal, and Ozzadie O’Neal. As she learned the skill and teachings of beadwork, she was able to create outfits for her children so that they could dance at powwows. As she sits and beads, she often thinks of her family and her Grandmother, Virginia. Pam looks to beading to calm her mind while she produces beautiful works of art such as earrings, necklaces, purses, moccasins, etc. Her companion of eight years, Tyson Smith, is also a big help in creating her stunning, original, handcrafted pieces. She is always willing to help someone learn, so the teachings of her elders will never fade.

Heather SunRhodes

Heather SunRhodes

Heather SunRhodes is a Mother, Daughter, Sister, friend, and artist. She is Northern Arapaho and Jemez Pueblo and resides on the Wind River Reservation. She is the First Impressions Manager for the Wind River Family and Health Care Center in Arapahoe, Wyoming. She is committed to making a better health care system for the reservation. Her hobbies include participating in powwows, arts and crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family. Heather has been creating stunning pieces of beadwork for over fourteen years and was taught by her grandmothers, aunts, and then she developed her own unique style. Heather is a very talented and artistic individual who likes to create pieces for her children’s dance outfits. She enjoys watching her children grow and dance in the powwow arena. In her spare time, Heather also beads earrings, necklaces, medallions, wallets, purses, and many other magnificent works of art.

Aimee Shoyo

Aimee Shoyo

Aimee Shoyo resides on the Wind River Reservation, she is enrolled Eastern Shoshone, and also from the Ute tribe and the Sweetgrass Cree First Nation. She has four children who are the driving force behind her strong work ethic. Aimee enjoys cooking, baking, and watching basketball when she is not beading. She is a self-taught beader with a couple of years of experience. Since those first couple years have passed, Aimee has developed her skills very finely. She enjoys making earrings and, from time to time, she makes dance outfit accessories. Aimee has benefitted from beading in more than one way, it has taught her to be patient, to persevere through obstacles, and to be fearless when trying new things. Aimee believes that she is her kids’ teacher and she wants to continue to strive for the best for them. Aimee enjoys the teachings that beading has to offer as she creates stunning works of art.
